Confessions of a Southern Spitfire

First things first

I have a confession to make...

...I was actually born in the Midwest.
But I’ve called the Southern United States home since the age of five—which means “y’all” and “I’m a-fixin’ to…” roll off my tongue naturally. I’m a qualified Southern lady. A spicy Southern belle.

A Southern Spitfire.

I’m the house mother of my very own frat house, sharing life with my husband and four boys ranging from ages 5 to 20. I’m also an award-winning jazz artist with over 30 years in music—onstage, behind the scenes, and in the trenches of the industry. I sing, produce, promote, consult, and occasionally write copy to keep the lights on and the coffee flowing.

Southern Spitfire is where my lived experience and professional expertise collide. I work as a Music Consultant, Digital Marketing Strategist, Publisher, Promoter, Producer, and Talent Buyer, drawing from a deep network of artists, venues, presenters, and arts organizations—plus a formal education in music performance, music therapy, and music business (yes, Berklee included).

And because I’m a working musician, I know firsthand how hard this road can be—and how critical it is to have someone in your corner. That belief sits at the very heart of Southern Spitfire. Helping independent artists get a strong, sustainable footing in their careers isn’t just something I do—it’s something I deeply care about. I’ve lived the late nights, the low-budget tours, the DIY hustle, and the moments where one solid advocate can make all the difference.

That means Southern Spitfire isn’t just a vibe—it’s a vehicle.
We champion bold Southern voices through storytelling and podcasting, promote and book artists, and create curated music productions, including Luminance: A Candlelight Experience, a Southern Spitfire production designed to elevate live music into something immersive, intentional, and memorable.

I love to travel. I hate to cook. The Lord is always working on my mouth, but my face has no filter. My quirks don’t always line up with the expectations placed on a Southern belle living in the Bible Belt—or any woman, for that matter.

So…
are you a Southern Spitfire too?
