Women's Entrepreneurship Day

When they asked me in grammar school what I wanted to be when I grew up, I always knew it was music.
“I wanna be a singer!”
They usually didn’t have a hat or costume for me to color or create in Art to represent my dreams as they would for those who chose policeman, fireman, or doctor, etc..

But still I pressed on. I did what I said I was going to do—Melissa Ellis Music happened mainly because that opportunity fell into my lap. (Thanks to our beloved Cumberland County Playhouse ). Had it not, today I would probably be a 46 year old woman who didn’t know what she wanted to be when she grew up. And to be honest, I never really change my future plans— it’s still music, I just add to that now! Even through my music career I picked up other skills, experiences and eventually education—again, falling into my lap—leading me to be a full blown woman entrepreneur.
I still play music as a career and run it like a legitimate business.
I also run my own agency that helps small businesses, venues, establishments, and music artists alike with their digital/social media marketing strategy needs as well as help them level up in their industry, make more money, and reach a high level of success through consulting! I get to do all of that with The Autumn Agency!!
I even started my own halloween boutique this year — The Spooktacular BOOtique!

And this next year, I officially have all my ducks in row Ready to launch my brand—Southern Spitfire!

Yes, I wanted to be a singer, but what has happened is so much more! I’m an entrepreneur! I don’t think they had a hat or costume for that either in school.bThere I go again, marching to the beat of my own drum.

HAPPY WOMEN’S ENTREPRENEURSHIP DAY to all you other cool ladies making it happen!
